ARTIST INFORMATION:

Bio: Olivia De Berardinis

Artist Olivia De Berardinis,  born in California in 1948, now professionally known as "Olivia", spent much of her childhood on the east coast.
After high school she attended the New York School of Visual Arts. She became involved in the "minimalist art movement", painting many minimalist oils on canvas.

In the mid 70's Olivia began rendering images of beautiful women. Shortly after she was contracted to  paint erotic fantasy women for popular men's magazines, such as Playboy magazine, where she became very successful.

In 1977 Olivia De Berardinis and her future husband formed the O Card Company, Inc. where they published her work in the form of greeting cards.

In 1984 Olivia signed her first fine art publishing agreement with Robert Bane Publishing.

In 1984, Olivia began supplying illustrations for Playboy. Her work underwent a shift, becoming more sophisticated, more subtle. You can see a more delicate handling of the female form.

In 1987 she had her first one-woman gallery show at the Tamara Bane Gallery in Los Angeles.

Olivia has had shows throughout the United States and Japan and her work is highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

A quote from Hugh Hefner:

"Her early work consisted of sexually graphic tableaux. Olivia's women had the ideal build of fantastic art - they share the walls on college dormitories with the heavy-metal heroines of Frank Frazetta and Boris Vajello. There are wonderful aliens here - women with tiger stripped skin, chrome torsos and plumed wings. Her rendering ability is such that she makes the unbelievable seem real and accessible.
